Dear Mr. Tech,
Hi, how are you doing recently?
The first, big thing that I want to say is — THANK YOU! You must be surprise to hear that as we never meet each other before. Oh, wait. You may not know me but I certainly do know you.
Although you have long been criticized by the public for lots of reasons: various pollution brought by industry production, phone addiction caused by invention of smartphone, social alienation due to increasingly convenient Internet, you are still a superhero to me.
Now please allow me to explain to you why I think so.
My case is special — I am going to leave Shanghai and fly to Toronto for university this fall! This is my first time living abroad alone; moreover, Toronto is completely new to me. Considering that, you should understand your importance in my heart.
During the recent decades, you have improved yourself so hard. The advance in air travel allows me to take a flight from Shanghai to Toronto that only takes one day (changing planes may take longer.) Though the ticket price is VERY expensive, I’m willing to pay it. You can take it as my reward to you. Without you, it’s impossible for me to travel that far.
What’s more important, honestly speaking I am addicted to smartphone, and I admit it’s sometimes “harmful” regarding my poor eyesight and procrastination. However, smartphones are incredibly great most of the times. They and their additional applications become a connection between me and my family and friends when I am far away abroad.
WeChat, for example, is worth-mentioning. I am able to keep in touch with my parents through everyday chatting and video call. I can send messages to my friends to let them know what’s going on on my side any time any where. While there is time difference between us and they probably won’t see the message immediately, sooner or later they will respond.
I don’t want to pretend to be mature and independent, even though I’m 18 already. I depend on my parents and family, heavily. Without you and these things you offer me, I may even refuse to go abroad and live by myself. How horrible a life like that will be!
So once again, a huge THANK YOU to you! And I wish everything goes well with you. Perhaps you will improve yourself even more when I graduate from university. How about time travel? What do you think?
Just kidding!
Best wishes,
Cherry
