3-0 to Wolves. Yet another disappointing defeat in the league. The team has plays with no energy, no passion.
In fact, you might as well just field a team of headless chickens, and they can still do better than Liverpool. This may sound extreme, but it is not that far from the truth. Liverpool used to be the best in the world. Everyone feared playing against us. Our defense was like a wall, our attack tore up Europe’s best teams. Now, we sit 10th in the Premier League, and with little to no investments in January, it doesn’t look like it will get any better.
All over social media, I can see different responses from our fanbase on the club’s situation: some fans are deciding to protest, some straight up quit supporting the team, and some are still optimistic we can get a somewhat good finish at the end of the season. It obviously is very hard for me to accept how bad of a state the team is in right now. More than 5+ players are on the treatment table at once, owners seem to completely neglect the club, and performances on the pitch are simply becoming worse and worse.

It’s during moments like these when I try to remember that love can be complicated; life will throw all kinds of obstacles and struggles at you during any relationship. It is important to be rational, understanding, and considerate of the other side. Whether it is love for your family, a friend, or an object or thing, no relationship will be flawless or completely perfect. It could be something small like a misunderstanding, or something more serious like a fight or argument, something will always be in the way. It is how we sacrifice and work hard to overcome these imperfections by understanding other people’s struggles that define our love. In fact, the beauty of love just might be how we work together with the other side to solve these problems.
As Liverpool fans, we obviously have a very big obstacle in front of us. The team’s owners, the Fenway Sports Group, do not care for the club and do not provide enough funds for it to invest and improve. The only way we could continue competing with rich, state-owned clubs is by selling more to raise funds. Despite being one of the most valuable and profitable clubs in the world, Liverpool has one of the lowest net-spends in the league. The only reason we were once able to overperform year after year is because of our intensity and our ability to sign the right players.
I love this football club, however, there are currently many issues with it. Yet, I’ll stay strong, and I’ll always support them through whatever situation. “We win together, we lose together.”
“At the end of the storm, there’s a golden sky.” With perseverance and understanding between both sides, all struggles in a relationship can be overcome.
